i have an 83 chevy k10 shortbed the motor is shot. i need to know wat it would take to convert a 350 tbi engine to run with a carb. it has a 350 in it now so i have all the stuff off that
Not positive but I'm thinking you should just need to swap the intake, carb, distributor, and obviously all your belt driven accessories.
a tbi motor is a 1 piece rear main so you need that flywheel/flexplate
if your 83 had a manual trans with the z-bar mounted on the block then you will need to swap to a hydro clutch from a 84.5-87(till 91 in the burban/k5/crewcab) as a tbi block does not have the hole for the pivot ball to mount.
a carb intake with your dist is about it, if i remember right the 4 center bolts may need to be slotted on the intake, the accessories with the serp belt and fan will work but if you swap to the v belt you need to then swap the fan and water pump as serp belt pumps and fans are reverse rotation
i have an auto in the truck and a complete tbi engine with tranny. not using the tranny. wat should i do about the mounts. im pretty new to the whole v8 scene worked on mostly hondas haha.
just bolt on the older mounts to the newer block, they may be the same mount but better to swap to be sure
personally i would put in the tbi and get rid of the carb
the truck is carb and i dont have access to the tbi wiring mumbo jumbo
