hello members,

Does the specific gravity of diesel fuel affect the engine horsepower output?Will the specific gravity of diesel fuel affect the engine horsepower output if the engine is put under a load?

YES. Specific gravity = Density, if density has changed then the ratio of components in the diesel has changed. How much of a output change depends on the amount of chemical change.
I know in gas motors it does my buddies got and old (53) chevy 350cid and it he runs reg (87 octane) in it it pings and knocks like crazy but it has like 12:1 compression pistons in it. it also runs like crap it hessitates and stalls like it is runnin out of fuel.
